The renowned Slovenian scholar, geographer and historian Janez Vajkard Valvasor was famous with his works, among which are the Glory of Vojvodina Carniola in four thick volumes (1689) and the extensive debate about Lake Cerknica, which made it possible for English scholars to become a member of his Academy (Royal Society).
